Top 3 Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

Spring has sprung and we couldn’t be happier over here at Environmental Enhancements. Baseball season is under way (and our Caps are playing in the NHL Playoffs on the way to the Stanley Cup), gardens are blooming, people are spending plenty of time outdoors, and Earth Day is almost here!

Earth Day is one of the best holidays of the year. Every April 22nd, organizations and individuals recognize the environment and all that we get from it, which is just about everything if you think about it.

We’ve put together a list of ways to celebrate. We’ve got options for people from East coast to West coast, who are staying home or headed out!

1. If you are staying home, go outside and garden!

This is a simple one. Turn off the TV and leave the iPhone on the table. Get outside and get dirty! You could plant a tree, or your own small garden. Maybe all you need to do is pick up the trash in your neighborhood or around your apartment building. Either way, there are tons of options to get outside.

If gardening is not your thing, you can try the Pick 5 challenge that’s organized by the EPA. It is a checklist of small ways to conserve energy and reduce waste. They may be small tasks but they make a huge difference!

2. Donate/Volunteer to a local environmental organization.

There are thousands of great organizations that work year round to give back to the Earth. They love having fresh faces so stop by to learn more.

This year, Environmental Enhancements selected two different Earth Day events that we’ll donate to. In addition to sponsoring these events and providing the plants, we will speak on living and doing business sustainably. We are very excited for the opportunity!

3. Attend one of the large festivals in your area.

The EPA has put together a fairly comprehensive list of events going on in each of the 50 states. You can find events that are closest to you here.

Environmental Enhancements is in Virginia, so we’re Region 3. We’ve got some stellar events in our area, including the Earth Day Network party on the Mall in DC. The event in years past has seen some big names including appearances by James Cameron, John Legend, and Fred’s all-time favorite performer–Sting.

Now you know what’s going on, so don’t sit still! There are plenty of ways to get out and celebrate Mother Earth. Get out there and get going!

And remember you don’t need a holiday to respect the environment. Every day is Earth Day.
